    My mother was a grandaughter to Emily Meacham and William Haws. William's earliest known ancestor was Benjamin Haws (a Jacobite Scottish clan chieftain) in league with the Black Watch clans, who were killed and persecuted. Benjamin escaped to Wales and then emigrated to Augusta County, Virginia.
