Will Transcript of Wife Mary

In the name of God amen I Mary Magdaline Baumgardner of the County of Wythe & State of Virginia, knowing the certainty of death and uncertainty of life, being desireous of settling my [?] affairs, and being of sound mind and dispairing memory do make this my last will & testament revoking all others - in the form following, to wit; To my son John Baumgardner I bequeath the sum of two hundred and twenty dollars and my [?] bedsteads with the two blankets & bed spread. To my daughter Elizabeth Hertzog I bequeath one bed quilt, two coverlets & two sheets with the other half of my wearing apparel. To my daughter Mary Sharrats I bequeath one bed quilt, two coverlets & two sheets with the other half of my wearing apparel. My son Jacob Baumgardner on whom I have a note of one hundred dollars, it is my request & will that he will pay his sister Sarah Harkarader the sum of twent five sollars and to his brother Phillip Baumgardner the sum of twelve dollars & fifty cents and to his brother Adam Baumgardner the sum of twelve dollars & fifty cents, the remaining fifty dollars keeping to himself. And all the rest and residue of whatever property or money I may have at the time of my decease to be equally divided between my three daughters Barbara Baumgardner, Elizabeth Hertzog & Mary Sharrats & my two sons Peter & Henry Baumgardner or their heirs. And it is my request that my son John Baumgardner be the Executor of this my last will and testament.
Witness my hand and seal this twenty fourth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & thirty three.

1805, Augusta County, VA Deed books, v. 33-36 1804-1811. This Indenture mad[e] the twenty fourth day of June in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and five between James King of the County of Augusta & state of Virginia of the one part, and Matthias Link senr. and Balser Bumgarner Trustees for the Lutheran & Presbyterian congregation of the other part, witnesseth that the said James King for and in consideration of the sum of Ten dollars lawful money of Virginia, to him in hand paid by the said Matthias Link and Balser Bumgarner the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained & sold, and by these presents doth grant, bargain and sell unto the said Mathias Link senr. and Balser Bumgardner their heirs and assigns for the use of said securities one acre of land lying in said County of Augusta on the South side of naked Creek and Joining the south westside of a Tract of Two acres conveyed by Samuel King to the said Trustees whereon their meetinghouse stands and Joining John Lewus land, and bounded as follows... [boundaries omitted], to have and To hold the said One acre of land with its appurtenances unto the said Mathias Link and Balser Bumgardner their heirs and assigns forever, to the only proper use and behalf of them the said Mathias Link senr. & Balser Bumgardner their heirs and assigns forever.
