Ann Jane Roney "Annie" was born on 20th July 1860 in Ararat, Victoria. Annie was born second of twelve children to Peter Roney and Sarah Brookman. Annie died on the 22nd October 1920 aged 61 in Auckland, New Zealand.

When Michael was 28 and Annie 14, they were married on the 28th March 1875 at the Roman Catholic Church in Amherst, Victoria. From the locations where Annie and Michael died along with the births and deaths of their eight children and electoral roles, it appears that they travelled constantly between the colonies of Victoria, New South Wales and New Zealand. Their time in Australia was likely to have been in the ‘gold’ fields and was within the areas where Annie’s parents and siblings where living.

One of their great granddaughters, Dale Gradon has written a book which provides a lot more detail on this family.
