About Andrew Wilson

Little is known of this Andrew Wilson. He apparently murdered his wife Jane prior to 14 April 1778, called into Court and sent to trial in Williamsburg, and apparently was executed by firing squad for desertion abt. 1779. Since he was sent to jail and his wife Jane was deceased, his children Robert and James were bound out to other families. More research needed on this family.

Can not determine from my notes if we have corres bef on this murder trial for a Andrew WILSON?? A couple of years ago I did an extensive research on this murder to determine if he is or is not my dead end gf Andrew who m Sarah CHRISTIAN ca 1775 at Tinkling Springs near Staunton, Augusta Co, VA. I believe that I obtained all the extant records from Staunton and Williamsburg. My conclusion is that he had what we might today call a pre trial hearing in Staunton and was bound over to Williamsburg for formal trial, it appears that he was acquitted in Williamsburg, or charges dropped and within a year was executed by firing squad in prison in Williamsburg for multiple desertions. It is my belief that he is not my gf Andrew WILSON who continued to produce children thru 1794 and was in Charleston area of Kanawha Co, WV by 1800. We are unlikely to ever know the laws/procedures of that era, or the strategy of the prosecutors, but in the end [or somewhere] they got him!
