They moved to Wisconsin, then to Sand Prairie, Tazewell, Illinois, where Mary died on 26 August 1860 at the age of 30. Alfred then apparently relocated to Allen County, Indiana, where he married Nancy Jane Buckmaster on 3 March 1864. She died on 6 March 1870 at the age of 36 in Allen County. Alfred and his children came back to Hinckley, Medina, Ohio, where he married Martha A. Richardson, of Brecksville, Cuyahoga, Ohio, on 3 March 1864. She died on 9 December 1886 at the age of 52.
