- Alexander Kelso Sr. (1723-1761) married Mary Blair who gave birth to Alexander Jr., Hugh, Margaret, and Mary. The senior Alexander was known as Reverend Alexander because he had been commissioned as a missionary to the Native Americans of Greenbriar Valley, Virginia where he had a land grant.

- Notes for Alexander Kelso, Sr.:
- Alexander was known as "Reverend Alexander" Kelso, so titled because he had been commissioned as a missionary to the Indians of the Greenbrier Valley where he owned a land grant. The Kelso's have been identified with Evangelical Christianity since before 1500. Some records indicate that Alexander and his wife were killed while their children were very young, and their boys went to live with their uncle, Hugh Kelso.
