(Text below this line is for organizing purposes only. It will be removed before final release, and replaced by a properly-formatted help menu.)

Key: EXISTING = existing help page; REPLACES = replaces one or more existing help pages; NEW = new help page

Before you start

Remember: Enter information only about deceased individuals born after 700 AD. WeRelate policy does not allow pages for living individuals (with minor exceptions), and does not host ancient genealogy.
D: intended to be included on the menu page (alternatively, we could just have a link to the policy page and title the link "Take a quick look at WeRelate policy")
C: a good place to transclude a policy statement template if we go that route
Consider defining a tree first NEW
explains the concept
explains why you might want to create a tree before you start adding your genealogy to WeRelate (FTE and also the ability to share the tree with others so that they can watch pages)
explains how to create a tree (from MyRelate menu item Trees or from Add GEDCOM)
includes Help:FAQ/My Trees
Understand the difference between Help:Adding new vs editing NEW
C:page title is still a little odd
D: explains the importance of updating existing pages instead of creating new – but only if you are sure of the match (better to create new if not sure, but do some research to determine – don’t leave it all up to others);
D: it is each contributor’s responsibility to integrate (check Help:Before you import your GEDCOM for ideas);
D: respect information already there – change facts only with a solid source
C: includes relevant content from Help:Finding and creating wiki pages EXISTING which should then be deleted
Experiment in the Sandbox EXISTING
link should be clear on the purpose

Adding new Person and Family pages

Help:Adding new Person pages NEW
REPLACES Help:Creating a Person page NEW & drafted (see also Help:HowTo/Add a new Person page, which has images)
TO DO: refine together with name and date conventions pages
includes a link to Help:Editing a Person page for filling in the new page
Help:Adding new Family pages NEW

Editing existing Person and Family pages

Help:Editing Person pages NEW
REPLACES Help:Person pages tutorial, Help:Person pages and WeRelate:About person pages, using the first as the basis and incorporating anything of value from the latter two and from the help notes in Portal:Person (replace the help notes in the portal page with a link to this help page);
assumes a starting point of either just having added the page or having it displayed and needing to click edit (could reference navigation help for how to find the page);
includes filling in facts and narrative;
includes how to reorder marriages (drag and drop, but not on a newly added one),
links to (and possibly includes portions of) Help:Conventions/Place page title, Help:Images TBD, Help:HowTo/Cite a source;
includes Help:HowTo/Use notes, Help:HowTo/Rename a page (which REPLACES Help:How to rename a page and needs further work to update links to deleting and merging pages), Help:HowTo/Watch a page, and Help:HowTo/Save a page (which addresses the change summary, minor change, Watchlist and tree checkboxes);
includes and links to conventions for facts, narrative and page title;
includes Help:FAQ/Person pages
(FAQ should include: Where do I add the marriage date?);
see also Help:Editing for content;
links to Formatting text
Help:Editing Family pages NEW
REPLACES Help:Family pages tutorial, Help:Family pages and WeRelate:About family pages, using the first as the basis and incorporating anything of value from the latter two and from the help notes in Portal:Family (replace the help notes in the portal page with a link to this help page)
assumes a starting point of either just having added the page or having it displayed and needing to click edit (could reference navigation help for how to find the page);
includes filling in facts and narrative
includes how to reorder children (drag and drop)
links to (and possibly includes portions of) Help:Conventions/Place page title, Help:Images TBD, Help:HowTo/Cite a source;
includes Help:HowTo/Use notes, Help:HowTo/Rename a page, Help:HowTo/Watch a page, and Help:HowTo/Save a page;
includes and links to conventions for facts, narrative and page title;

see also Help:Editing for content
links to Formatting text
Help:Page titles EXISTING
needs refreshing,
includes and links to Help:Conventions/Person page title and Help:Conventions/Family page title,
includes Help:FAQ/Page titles
C: There used to be a time when page title was more of a manual operation when adding a new page. Now, since titles for P&F pages are auto generated from data entered during page creation, I think we can remove this content link here. As long as folks are guided to enter the correct data in the name fields, the title will be correct. I'm concerned that talking about it here might confuse the issue. I think it fits better in the sections on page components and merging/renaming.

NOTE: When done, update the code to link to the new Edit help when editing a person or family page.

Deleting

Delete an entire page = Help:Deleting pages NEW
REPLACES Help:Speedy Delete
includes using the delete menu option (and when it will work)
includes marking a page for speedy delete (with a link to the template page);
see Help:Editing for content
explains concept - that link will be broken wherever it occurs and pedigree pages disconnected
reminder to check What links here
reminder to redirect instead of delete, when appropriate
Delete some of the page, but keep the rest - see Editing links above.
C: seems silly, I know, but I have seen folks not realize this before
