[add comment] [edit] Menu title [7 January 2017]Comment below is from the original thread about finalizing menu titles:
I still think we should change the menu title for this page, but I will hold off, pending your thoughts. I would recommend deleting the current page and starting fresh vs. redirect, since it is just us two and so early in development. Thanks, --cos1776 11:59, 7 January 2017 (UTC) I am in agreement with all of this. I'm not entirely sure what is the best title for the menu page - to be consistent with the 3 menu items below it, we probably should not include "Working with" in the title, and none of the other menu pages except for "Merging pages" uses the word "pages" in the title. That would leave this title to be "Persons and families", but that strikes me as just a touch odd. If it does not strike you as odd, we can go with that. If it does strike you as odd, let's see if inspiration strikes on how to improve consistency.--DataAnalyst 18:34, 7 January 2017 (UTC)
[add comment] [edit] The terms Creating vs AddingOne of the changes I was going to suggest when we moved the outline over was to change the title of Help:Creating a Person page to Help:Adding a new Person page (and likewise for other titles with "Creating" in them). Very early on WR switched from using Create to using Add partially to emphasize the difference between adding new and updating existing. Titling this way would continue to help make that distinction and stay in line with the content of your proposed Help:Creating vs updating, which could instead be titled Help:Adding new vs updating existing or something similar. --cos1776 11:59, 7 January 2017 (UTC)
[add comment] [edit] Content revisionThis is what we have now:
Given that we have moved to specifying that this menu is specific to Person and Family pages and are going to update the title, perhaps we should also move "Understand the difference ..." , "Experiment in the Sandbox" and the Deleting section to "Help:Menu/Getting started --> Understanding WeRelate". Does that sound logical to you? --cos1776 23:40, 26 January 2017 (UTC) |
