Parentage of William Rankin

Some researchers believe that this William Rankin MAY be a son of Jeremiah Rankin and Rhoda Craig, but IGI shows a different William Rankin as their son. This William DID name his first daughter Rhoda, but no son Jeremiah. The other William Rankin did not appear to name any children after Jeremiah Rankin or his wife Rhoda, which leads to obvious speculation that perhaps the wrong William is listed as their son. More research/sources are necessary.
