    Thomas Irvin or Irwin was, I believe, a son of Christopher Irvin (c. 1730-1791) and his second wife Mary of Rowan County, North Carolina.

    Thomas married Sarah DeWeese (1799-1875) in November 1836 (Cabarrus Co. bond dated 14 November 1836). She was a daughter of Isaiah DeWeese and his wife Rebecca Barnett of Cabarrus County. It is unclear if Thomas had been married previously. Thomas and Sarah had one son, John DeWeese Irwin (1838-1916).
