--Sarah was the 5th of 14 children of Isaiah DeWeese and wife Rebecca Barnett. The family moved from Person County to Cabarrus County in 1800 and she grew up in Cabarrus County.
--She was 36 years old when she married Thomas Irwin in Cabarrus County on November 14, 1836. They had one son, John DeWeese Irwin. Sarah's husband died in June 1845.
--When her son John married in 1867 and moved to Charlotte, Sarah moved there with them. She died in 1875, probably in Charlotte but possibly in Cabarrus County. I normally do not place a memorial in a "guessing" spot, but over many years have been unable to find her grave in Charlotte. I am thinking she may be at Poplar Tent in an unmarked grave, like several of her sisters. Also her son John's first wife, Mary "Mollie" Bradford Irwin, is interred at Poplar Tent.
