She was a Pine Ridge Indian School teacher. Listed as witness to D.W. Braught and Francis Risdon marriage 3 NOV. 1884 at New Virginia, IA. (Warren Co. Marriage BK. 1881-1885), but her name was listed as Belle C. Steele (I expected her surname then to be Braught or Gaddis, of course). See LDS Courthouse Warren Co. film, Warren Co. Marr. BK. 1889-92 showing 1891 marriage to Leander Steele. Steven Roy (West Des Moines, IA) 1995 data lists her as Belle, b. 1860, d. 1927 & married to Leander W. Steele. Ruby Driskell records name her Isabella, b. 17 Aug. 1860 and died 22 Jan. 1927. There are obviously some concerns about some of the data conflicts here that need added research if important. Her gravestone card at Indianola, IA Cemetery lists her as Belle C. Gaddis (see her father's notes for location of the family grave site). However, other data suggests that she had a second marraige to Leander Steele, so things do not fit smoothly with this data.
