Sergeant Junior B. Arbogast, 24, died serving the United States of America in WWII. He was born in Valley Head, West Virginia, September 9, 1920, the son of Walter and Eva Arbogast. He is survived along with his parents; five brothers, Raymond Arbogast, Orval Arbogast, Keith Arbogast, Freddie Arbogast of Valley Head and Troy Arbogast of Grafton, West Virginia; two sisters, Edith Arbogast and Lillian Arbogast Dodrill, both of Valley Head. Services were held at the Valley Head Methodist Church. The Reverend Nay of Valley Head and Lt. Col. Arthur M. Senne, retired Army chaplain of Elkins, West Virginia conducted services. Interment is at Valley Head Cemetery where military rites were conducted by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was killed during the crossing of the Rhine River at Worms, Germany when his unit came under attack from German artillery and mortar fire. The mission of his combat group was to support the armies by keeping them moving and by impeding the enemy.
