She is on the 1860 census, age 7, with parents Marion Twp., Hocking Co., Oh.[p 157 fam #1027/1015] and on the 1870 census, age 17 with parents.[p 506 fam #212/215] On a family group sheet submitted to the Fairfield Co, Oh., Historical Soc., we find John Ellinger son of Jacob Frederick and Heleniah (Ulmar) Ellinger. We see this family on the 1850 census, Marion Twp., Hocking Co., Oh. Father Jacob is 45, and a farmer from Germany. Hellenah, 25, is caring for their children. John is age 1.[fam #211/217] On 1860 census, John, 11, is with his parents in Marion Twp.[p 855 fam #428/428] In 1880 John, 31, a farmer and wife Sarah D., 27, are in Walnut Twp., Fairfield Co., Oh. With them are first four children.[p 259B fam #255/270] On 1900 census there, John P., 51, continues farming. Wife Sarah, 47, declares they have been married 29 years and she has born 11 children, 9 alive at this time. Six in the home.[ED 24, p 351A, f am #117/121] In 1910, John is 61 and still farming in Walnut Twp. Sarah, 57, has in the home "daughter, Tina, 24." She may be widow of one of the sons, as Sarah says here she lost another child since 1900. Son Elmer, 17, is also in the home.[ED 80, p 1A, fam #4/4]
