NOTE 1850: Unknown exactly when Sanford took the family from Franklin County, Virginia, to Cabell County, (West) Virginia, however, it was after 1832. In a letter dated July 3, 1832, Sanford's brother, Hullum Scott, wrote a letter to another of their brothers, Amos Scott, who had removed to Rockingham County, Virginia. In one part of the letter Hullum wrote, "[A]ll of our sisters and brothers are well. [T]he last time I heard of them brother Sandford and brother Michael wishes to be remembered." Since Hullum was still living in Franklin County, Virginia, I think his mention of Sanford means that he was still living in Franklin County as well, and thus I believe that the move to Cabell County, (West) Virginia, was after 1832.
