By as early as 1813 Phoebe Scott, along with her many siblings, was an orphan. Her mother, Christina Sellers, is believed to have died in mid-1810 while her father, William Scott, reportedly died at about age 40 during the War of 1812.
According to Larry Scott, a direct descendant, Phoebe and a man by the name of Thomas M. Warren had a "bastard child" out of wedlock named John Wesley Scott, who was born in May 1819 in Franklin County, Virginia. Proof of this is cited from a court record graciously provided by Larry Scott:

Franklin Co., VA Order Book 1811-1821. Book Number 7, Page 408.
    November, 1821
THOMAS WARREN and ELIJAH WARREN come into court and acknowledged themselves indebted to his excellancy Thomas M. Randolph, Esq., Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia in the sum of $200 to be levied of their respective lands and tenaments, good and chattels, and to the said Governor and his successors, for the use of the overseers of the poor of this county, rendered, yet upon the condition that if JOHN WESLEY SCOTT, a bastard child begotten by the said THOMAS WARREN on the body of PHOEBE SCOTT, shall be supported and maintained so as not to become chargeable to the parish of this county, then the recognizance to be void.

Though Thomas M. Warren did provide support for his "bastard child", he and Phoebe went their separate ways. Thomas eventually moved on to Winston County, Mississippi, where he married and raised a family of his own before dying there circa 1864.
Phoebe Scott married Barnabas Kennett on November 6, 1826, in Franklin County, Virginia, and went on to raise a family of her own. Phoebe and Barnabas subsequently relocated to Floyd County, Virginia, where they lived the rest of the lives. Exactly when Phoebe died is unknown, however, it has been reasoned that it was in the early 1880s when she was around 80 years of age. An insurance record in the early 1900s involving her son, John Wesley Scott, stated that John's mother had "died at age 80 of old age". But, current evidence does not support John Wesley Scott's claim as research is ongoing.
