She is daughter of John Vaughn & Anna Beebe. Her father died in 1820 in Westmorland, Oneida County, NY, leaving a will which named 13 children, including daughters, Martha, (m.Daniel Webster) dec'd, & Ruth, m.Stephen Webster.
1840 Census for Clarendon, Orleans Co,NY Roll#321 p.407 shows Ruth Webster as head of a household of 5(her husband died the previous yr) Three males: 15-20, 20-30, & 30-40 & two females 15-20 & 60-70. Ruth is 66. In 1840 here is the status of Ruth's children: The youngest, Amanda, has died; Norton is 27 & he is living with his mother as he won't marry until 1844; Stephen Jr would be 30 & it's possible he is home with his mother for this census(the young woman could be his wife or it could be household help); daugher Ruth is dead; Truman is in Monroe Co.MI; daughter Ann is dead; son Warren lives nearby with his family; Justus is in Monroe Co. MI; Hannah has died; & the eldest child, Larry, has died. Out of 10 children only 5 sons are alive.

1855 NY State Census for Clarendon, Orleans Co.,NY shows Ruth Webster, 80, widow of Stephen, b.CT living with her son Norton & his family.
Ruth died in 1856, 17yrs after her husband & is buried with Stephen at Hulberton Cemetery, close to Clarendon, NY.
