She graduated from Hope College in Holland Michigan, and was a school teacher in Coopersville, Michigan, New Brunswick, New Jersey, and Steubenville, Ohio until her marriage. In 1937 she had surgery for uterine cancer and was given 6 months to live. She was one of the first people to receive radiation treatment for cancer in Chicago, and lived 52 more years to age 85. She had no children. After her husband received his Ph.D., they lived in Kankakee, Illinois, and Warrensburg, Missouri, and for a year in Pakistan. When she was 80 years old she moved back to Grand Rapids, Michigan to be near family.

RUTH L. TERKEURST

 Ruth L. TerKeurst, 85, Grand Rapids, Michigan, formerly of Warrensburg, died Monday, March 13, 1989, at Metropolitan Hospital in Grand Rapids.
 Mrs. TerKeurst had resided in Warrensburg 40 years.
 She was born Sept. 3, 1903, in Coopersville, Mich., the daughter of George Laug and Carrie (Corll) Laug.
 On June 12 1934, she married Arthur TerKeurst in Coopersville, Mich.  He preceded her in death Jan. 11, 1981.
 Mrs, TerKeurst was a homemaker and member of First Presbyterian Church.
 Surviving are three brothers, Forrest Laug, Naples, Fla.; Gerald Laug, Burnsville, N.C., and Louise Laug, Marco Island. Fla., and one sister, Geneva Hosler, Caledonia, Mich.
 Services will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, March 17, at Holdren Funeral Home.  The Rev. Alex Wales will officiate.  Burial will follow in Warrensburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
 The family suggests memorial contributions to World of Vision.

TERKEURST -- Mrs. Ruth L. TerKeurst, aged 85, widow of Dr. Arthur TerKeurst, passed away Monday. Mrs. TerKeurst was born and raised in Coopersville, and was a graduate of Hope College. She lived for many years in Warrensburg, Mo. Surviving are her brothers and sister, Forrest and Dorothy Laug of Naples, FL., Gerald and Jeannette Laug of Burnsville, NC., Mrs. Geneva Hosler of Caledonia, Louis and Vivian Laug of Marco Island, FL., several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Friday in Warrensburg, MO. Memorials to World Vision will be appreciated. The family will receive friends Wednesday 2 to 4 pm at Metcalf & Jonkhoff.
