FUNERAL SET FOR TERKEURST

   Dr. Arthur J. TerKeurst, 79, former chairman of the Psychology Department at Central Missouri State University, died yesterday at Johnson County Memorial Hospital.  He resided at 303 Goodrich St.
   Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Holdren Funeral Home, with burial in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  The Rev. Jack Kurtz will officiate.
   Dr. TerKeurst received his bachelor's degree in 1932 from Hope College in Holland, Mich. and his master's degree in Education fron Northwestern University in 1933.  He earned his Ph.D. at Northwestern in 1937 and came to CMSU in 1947 as chairman of the Education Department.
   He was a Fulbright lecturer at the University of Dacca in Pakistan in 1952-53 and returned to the university as chairman of the Psychology Department, a position he held until his retirement in 1971.
   Dr. TerKeurst was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, was a fellow in the American Psychology Association and was a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
  He was born in Hamilton, Mich. on Oct. 15, 1901, the son of Arend Jan and Johanna Kropschott TerKeurst.  He and Ruth Laug were married in Coopersville, Mich. on June 12, 1934.
   In addition to his wife, he is survived by three nephews.
   The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Holdren Funeral Home.
   Memorials are suggested to Cancer Research.  These may be left at the Holdren Funeral Home.

He also had been a faculty member at the Chicago Christian College, Ill. and at in Kankakee, Ill. He translated Dutch psychology articles into English, did volunteer work with prison programs, and established a scholarship fund at Hope College in Holland, Michigan.
