Robert Cundall married Margaret Hardcastle on the 12th of March 1763 in Kirkby Malzeard, near Ripon, North Yorkshire. The witnesses at the marriage were Thomas Robinson and Robert Raper.

Margaret and Robert had six children together, three daughters and three sons. Their first child, Ellen, born in 1766, is shown in Parish registers to have died the following year. Their second daughter was also given the name Ellen, presumably in her memory. All together Margaret and Robert had 26 grandchildren.

Details of Robert's occupation are not known, but he was a Churchwarden between 1769 and 1784.

Robert died in 1797 in Swetton, Kirkby Malzeard, near Ripon, North Yorkshire.  He was buried on Sunday 10 December 1797 in St Andrews Church, Kirkby Malzeard.
