"The tenth of eleven known children born to Robert & Mourning (Lewis) Adams of Henrico Co (now Goochland) VA, Robert Jr married Penelope Flournoy Lynch on 15 Oct 1748 in Albemarle Co VA, the daughter of Charles & Sarah (Clark) Lynch of Albemarle Co VA. Children [known so far] with Penelope: 1) Charles Lynch Adams (b: 1752), m: unkn. 2) Captain Robert Adams (1754-aft 1790), m: Mary Terrell. 3) Penelope Adams (b. c1758), m: John Shackleford. 4) Elizabeth Adams, m: James Dearing. 5) Margaret Adams, m: John Rice Smith. 6) Mildred Adams, m: William Ward. 7) James Adams, m: Mary Irvine. Please note: Until vital dates are located, this is not the correct order of their births. In 1780 Robert was a member of a Vigilance Committee that helped clear the region of outlaws and Tories. According to his DAR# A000533, Robert performed a Civil Service during the Revolutionary War [no rank]: "Bedford Co VA, Court Orders, 1774-1783, pp 54, 118" Member of the Grand Jury. First Justice of Bedford Co VA. Robert's father willed to him "...all my land on the Creek where I live and the mill...". Family Lineage Investigations 2004: "Robert Sr had property involving at least 800 acres on a branch of Licking Hole Creek in Goochland Co VA. VA was under British rule at this time. Robert Jr was the namesake of his father and was born two years prior to the ascent of King George II to the throne, in 1727." " The area was explored many times by the men of Martins Hundred, who built a palisades and named it "Henrico". This, too, was where they started the first silkworms, brought by Capt.
