James Adams was a soldier in John Smith's Company of Regular Additional Troops during the Cherokee Expedition in 1760 and 1761. He was Justice of the Peace in Albemarle County, Virginia from 1771 to 1773. During the Revolutionary War he performed Patriotic Service while living in Fluvanna County, Virginia.(WikiTree, page managed by Chris Hamilton and Ted Bergstrom) "The last of eleven children born to Captain Robert & Mourning (Lewis) Adams of Henrico Co (now Goochland) VA; James married Cecily Ford in 1751 at the St James Northam Parish Church in Henrico Co (now Goochland) VA, possibly the daughter of Culverine & Elizabeth (Lea/Lee) Ford of Charlotte Co VA....During the Indian Wars, James served in the Virginia Militia Regulars, under the command of Captain John Smith, taking part in the Cherokee Expedition of 1760.
