Campbell County is a county located in the U.S. state — officially, "Commonwealth" — of Virginia. As of the 2000 census, the population was 51,078. Its county seat is Rustburg6. The county is named after General William Campbell of the Revolutionary War. ll

Campbell County was established in 1782 from Bedford County. The county was named for Revolutionary War hero, General William Campbell, who is known for the 1780 Battle of King's Mountain.
