Justin Pioneer Dies in Arkansas / Mrs. Bird HELM, 84, former resident of Justin, died Tuesday morning at the home of her niece, Mrs. Isia [Isla] OSBURN, in Lincoln, Ark. Funeral services will be at the Justin Church of Christ Wednesay at 10 a.m. She died as the result of a stroke of paralysis, the second in the last few months. She had no children of her own but at various times in her life had given a home to 40 orphan boys and girls. / She came to Texas from Davis County, Iowa, by way of California in 1871, traveling by wagon train. The family settled five miles southwest of Justin. Shortly after her arrival she had a narrow escape from marauding Indians. She had been a member of the Church of Christ for over 50 years, and was active in church work. --Denton Record Chronicle, Jan. 4, 1938; typescript courtesy Anita Robeson, e-mail, Sept. 21, 2000
