Mary Ann (Brockway) Hines Buzzell was born on 27 February 1837 in Milan, Erie County, Ohio to James Brockway and it is uncertain if her mother was Catherine Eliza Terwilliger, as the marriage date of James and Catherine is several years after Mary's birth. On 5 September 1852, she married William Hines in Bloomingville, Erie County, Ohio. The couple later moved to Jefferson County, Wisconsin. They had four sons: David, Elijah, Lafayette and Hezekiah Hines. Mary divorced William around 1866 in Jefferson County, Wisconsin on grounds of abandonment and on 13 April 1867, married John Viber Buzzell. Mary and John had five children: Alma, Alzina, Lillian, Adda and Anthony Buzzell. Around 1881, Mary and John Buzzell moved to Dakota Territory. John died 25 November 1893. Mary died 23 April 1913 both are buried in Winfred Community Cemetery.
