This is what I have learned over the last 7 years. Catherine Eliza Terwilliger married James Brockway on Jan. 2, 1942 in Erie Co., Ohio. I think Mary Ann Brockway had a different mother because I have calculated her birth at Feb. 1837. According to census records, James Brockway and Catherine had 5 children: Frances Caroline, Henry Walbridge, Marquis de Lafayette, Adeline and Reuben. James died and Catherine remarried a William Smith on July 29, 1854 in Ohio. According to census records there were two more children: John Smith and Elliott Smith.

I also have an excerpt from a family history reading as follows (in reference to James Brockway): "We have always regretted that we knew so little of father's family. After father died, his brother Abner Brockway came to our home and assisted mother and the family very kindly.He was a bachelor and well along in years at that time and after he left us we never saw him again. There was also another brother of fathers' named John Brockway that we know of but never met him." Unfortunately I did not list my source.

Here is a possibility. On the 1860 Census for Palmyra, Jefferson, WI is this listing. Catherine Smith, age 43, born NY Adeline BrAckway age 11, born OH Lafayette BrAckway, age 13, Born OH Reuben BrAckway, age 9, born OH John BrAckway, age 7, born OH Elliott BrAckway, age 1, Born WI

Catherine Eliza Terwilliger was first married to James (Monroe) Brockway, 2 Jan 1842 at Milan, Erie, OH She married second, William Smith, 29 July 1854. He is not listed in 1860. Elliott should be Elliott Smith.

Lineage: James (Monroe), Ezra, Tiffany, Richard, Wolston, William
