An unidentified family document is cited as follows:
"I, Jacob Sawatzky, was born Feb. 6, 1839 at 6 a.m., in Russia. My wife,Maria Sawatzky, was born Feb. 3, 1840. We were married Aug. 14, 1859...
...In 1886, my wife Maria passed away, Sept. 21st. She had been sick in bed for 31 weeks, 2 days. She lived 48 years, 3 weeks, 2 days. She was buried Sept. 23rd with 44 families attending the funeral.
"In 1887, I, Jacob Sawatzky, married Helena Kaunnon..."
At this point, the entries in the records are by someone else.
"Our father died in 1900, June 2nd. He was buried June 4th, at the age of 61 years, 2 days."
