    Children of Jacob Houghton and Rebecca Whitcomb: Jonathan, b. 1703, d. 1740, m. "1, 20, 1725" Mary Houghton.
[Note: The basis for death in 1740 is unexplained and unknown, seems questionable given probate wasn't opened until 1744? Assuming it was due to the fact he was part of Admiral Vernon's disastrous expedition (see wikipedia:Edward Vernon#Cartagena de Indias) as described in the text, that would seem to imply he was alive for at least part of 1741.]

  3. The birth date of Jonathan given as 1703 by both Source:Houghton, John Wesley. Houghton Genealogy, p. 307; and by NEHGR, Vol. 79, p. 400, Burr, Annie Lane and Thomas Hovey Gage. "John Houghton of Lancaster, Mass., and Some of His Descendants". It is certainly not unreasonable given his marriage date. His father's distribution calls him the "fourth son".
