James Braxton Dugger was named in the 29 Jan 1823 Will of her father Richmond Dugger as son “Braxton” who was under 21. (Brunswick Co., VA Will Book 9 page 289).

On 30 May 1833 James B. Dugger married Mary Harris in neighboring Warren Co., NC.

They were listed on the 1840 census in Mecklenburg Co., VA. Analysis:

I was unable to locate James B. Dugger and family on the 1850 census. They were probably in Mecklenburg at the time but missed by the census taker. They were there for the 1860 and 1870 census though.
