Information I am seeking is on my great-grandfather, Merrill Alexander Scovel, b.1850 in N.Y., D. 1932 in Iowa. He was the son of Hezekiah Scovel, b. abt 1811 in Vermont, d. 1893 Chariton, Iowa. Was Hezekiah the son of Hezekiah born in 1777, as it appears? Obit for Merrill stated that his father was from New Hampshire, but I think this should have been father's family? Would appreciate any information on this Hezekiah Scovel family.

The children I have of Hezekiah Scovel and Diantha Waterman include: I. N. (b. 1834 ?) Eli Hezekiah (b. Aug. 16, 1835, d. Nov. 25, 1881) Jasper Newton Carrie (abt. 1837) Nettie (abt. 1839) Judson (Mar 8, 1841 d. Dec 11, 1915) Merrill (b. Feb 21, 1850, d. Feb. 13, 1932)

Children of Hezekiah and 2nd wife, Mary E. (Boss?) were George (b. Dec. 9, 1860) and Hod (b. May 23, 1863)

I read in an earlier posting that Hezekiah had 13 children, but I only have info on these 9.

Hezekiah married 2nd to Mary Elizabeth (Boss ?) April 20, 1852. They are both buried in Chariton Cemetery, Chariton, Iowa. Also, Myrtle M., 1875-1879; and Palmer T., 1825-1899, brother of Hezekiah, are buried there. I don't know who Myrtle's parents were.
