Facts and Events
Name Frances Dugger
Gender Female
Birth? Abt 1750 Brunswick, Virginia, United States
Marriage 4 Nov 1771 Brunswick, Virginia, United Statesto John Dugger, Surry
Death? 8 Feb 1843 Sumner, Tennessee, United States

Frances was born ca 1740/1750 per the 1840 census, or ca 1750/1760 per the 1830 census. The two can be reconciled if she was born ca 1750.

Her maiden name isn't known for sure. There is the possibility that she is the same person as Frances Dugger named in the 1802 Will of John Dugger Sr. He named both a daughter-in-law Fanny Dugger and later mentioned "Heirs of Frances Dugger" which doesn't seem to be t referring to Fanny (who was widow of John Dugger Jr). This Frances Dugger may be the wife of John Dugger Surry. I think that is the case but the evidence isn't conclusive.

Frances married John Dugger, Surry (1749-1834) on 4 Nov 1771, he was her 1st cousin, a son of Lydia Dugger.

Frances was named in the 6 Apr 1802 Will of her father John Dugger Sr as "heirs of Frances Dugger." The wording would suggest that she was deceased by then, but it doesn't say she was dead. She had left for Tennessee long before, so perhaps John didn't know if she was alive or dead.

Frances was listed on the 1840 census in Sumner Co., TN.

Frances Dugger Dugger died on 8 Feb 1843 as proven by U. S. Pensioner Payment records. (Thanks to LaVerne Harvey for finding this record on Ancestry.com!) Frances presumably died in Sumner Co., TN.
