CALLAS-NIX MARRIAGE AT WEST POINT

West Union, Jan 20, Special; A wedding that came as a surprise to friends of the contracting parties was that of Miss Lizzle Callas and Davis Nix, of near High Falls, which took place on Dec. 25th. The bride is the third daughtear (sp) of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Callas and is a charming young lady. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. E.E. Nix and is a prosperous young farmer. The young couple left immediately after the ceremony for Lake Toxaway, where they will make thier home. The best wishes of a host of friends go with tehm for a happy and prosperous journey through life.

from a posting on the William "Billy" NIX site by Karen Booth

Note!!!! The article gave the Father as E.E. Nix.?????/

Thos. Monore Nix, a son of Mr. and Mrs. E.E. Nix, of Oconee, died at Camp Sivier, Greenville, last Sundy from influenza. Mr. Nix was a young man of fine parts, and went to the service of his country willingly and galadly, with the full determination to make as good a soldier as any of his comrades. Mr. and Mrs. Nix have given three sons to the service, two being now with the American Expeditionary Forces in Europe. We join with other friends of the bereaved parents and family in extending sympatry to them in the loss of this son and brother. Mr and Mrs. Nix are also caring for a little child, the infant of James Louis Mauldin, now in army service overseas. Mr and Mrs. Nix have never murmured or complainad at the giving up of their sons for service of their countary, being willing and glad that they were ready each to do a man's part when America's call came for her salwart sons to fight for freedom. These two good people are peculiarly blessed in their sons, both in life and in death.

Note, this is the second newspaper artical to list him as E.E. ?? Is it possible that Alexander, could sound like an E. to a news reporter? maybe.
