Facts and Events
Name[1] Alexander H. Ashton
Gender Male
Birth? Abt 1810 Ohio, United States
Marriage 26 Aug 1838 Clermont, Ohio, United Statesto Rachel Smith
Death[2] 13 Jul 1849 Kentucky, United States

Alexander's mother, Hannah Sarah Johnson Ashton, reportedly died in Marietta, Ohio, in 1810, the same year that Alexander was reportedly born. Possibly the family was in the midst of their journey when Hannah died as a result of the birth. Samuel, Alexander's father, settled in Clermont County, Ohio, where he can be found in records and where he later remarried.

I have not been able to find birth or death citations for Alexander who apparently died in Kentucky in 1849. Finding details relating to his birth will be helpful in determining the date and place of his mother's death.

Ramona Bowling reported in 1999 on an ancestry.com message board that Alexander and his wife, Rachel, removed to Kenton County, Kentucky in 1844, where Alexander is on the tax lists (1845, 1846, 1847, 1848, 1849). She suspected that he may have died in a choleria epidemic but had not found any citations at that time. Rachel and her children can be found on census rolls in Ohio beginning in 1850 - Alexander, the baby, is 11 months old.
