I am indebted to three women: Patricia Haines Reichelderfer, Violet Reynolds Ashton and Martha Crum Haines (1905-2002) for their collection of family history, photographs, letters, notes, funeral cards and such. My uncle, Charles Edward Ashton, and brother, Jonathan Wayne Medaugh, began their research decades ago and have made their extensive research available to me.

As much as possible I am attempting to track my children's ancestors back to the time they settled in North America. In the process I have learned more than I expected, uncovered a few surprises, and discovered distant relatives across the country who have contributed immensely to my research.

My thanks to all who work for or volunteer for WeRelate - it's a great site.

I hope my research helps others on the same path.
