In 1880, Absolom is still listed as living at home at age 23 according to the Cono Twp., Iowa County census. Also, he is listed as a farmer in the 1880 Iowa Agricultural Census with the exact number of acres and heads of livestock he owned at the time. I didn’t make a copy of the census page. (It’s located at the Historical Society of Iowa in Iowa City.)

In 1885, Absolom is living with his parents in Omega Twp., O’Brien County, Iowa and is listed as married. Listed next to him is Celia Snooks, age 21, married (to Absolom?)

In 1895, Absolom is still living with his parents and his children in O’Brien Co., Iowa.

In 1909, Absolom is living on 160 acres of land in Dale Township, Cottonwood Co., MN. There is a school on or near his property.

in 1920, he was living in Cottonwood Co, Minnesota, near Windom.

In 1926, he is still living on the same property as he had been in 1909. Living in the same township are Henry Snook, J.A. Snook and Ray Snook.

His obituary said: “Absolam Snook passed away at his farm home on the east shore of Harder’s Lake in Dale Township on Tuesday evening, from a combination of ailments that are typical of these pioneer farmers in advanced years. Mr. Snook was one of those resourceful farmers who gloried in surmounting obstacles, and though congenial to a marked degree, had little time for the man who was continually complaining bout conditions.”

Another obituary said about Absolam, “Mr. Snook was an unusually industrious and progressive farmer. He was absolutely fair when dealing with neighbors and his word was as good as his bond. His sound judgment and wise council [sic] will be missed by his friends and neighbors.”
