According to the History of Powesheik County published in 1911 and written by Professor L. F. Parker, George went to Texas with his father Henry in 1856. This book claims the father died there in 1860. 6/8/03 FINALLY found George and Catherine in the 1885 Iowa State Census living in Omega Twp., O’Brien County. He’s 62 and she’s 53 (and listed as “Scholes” Snooks rather than Catherine!). Living with them are 21 year old Celia Snooks, born in Canada, married (dau-in-law?) and 25 year old Jane Snooks (single) and 14 year old Elsworth Snooks and 9 year old Earl Snooks, and one year old Joseph Snooks, all born in Iowa. 9/27/03 Eureka!! Found George and Catherine still living with Absolom and his family in 1895. 3/17/07 In the 1905 Iowa State census, Absolom and Selia[sic] are living with G. F. Snook, W. H. Snook, A. Snook, Jr., Ray Snook and Maud Collett in Hartley, O’Brien County.
