In 1900, George is 13 years old and living with his family in Omega Twp., O’Brien county, Iowa.

According to Lyle Snook’s note, George killed himself.

“Another sad accident occurred last Sunday from the discharge of a gun that must have been left loaded by mistake, when George Snook lost his life. The accident happened in some manner that will probably never be known, as no one was with him at that time, but the theory is that the was just taking the gun down from the hooks on the wall to look to its condition before going hunting, when the terrible accident happened. “George and his brother Absalom were partners in the ownership and management of a far on the east shore of Harder’s Lake and it was in the little shack on the farm that the accident happened. They had planned to go out on Wilson’s Lake after ducks, George was going with them, but first Henry Snook, James Downie and Clara Callett, were to go down the other lake and get the boats. When these men got back they found that a terrible accident had occurred and that George had been killed instantly, apparently just as he was taking the gun down, as above stated.”
