Om snel van start te gaan:
[add comment] [edit] Next step: Review your GEDCOM [9 May 2011]You're not done yet! WeRelate is different from most family tree websites. By contributing to WeRelate you are helping to create Pando for genealogy, a free, unified family tree that combines the best information from all contributors. Now that you have uploaded gedcom 2011-05-09Beet.ged, your next step is to review what your pages will look like, review any potential warnings, and combine (merge) people in your GEDCOM with matching people already on WeRelate. You need to review your GEDCOM before it can finish importing. We will keep your GEDCOM in the queue for two weeks to give you time to review it. Note: if your gedcom contains many errors or multiple families, we’d ask that you resolve and correct the errors, delete this gedcom and re-submit it without the errors before merging it with families already on WeRelate. If the gedcom is very large, we’d suggest breaking it up into separate files (or families) and importing them one at a time, which makes the review and correction process easier. Click here to review your GEDCOM Once you have finished your review and marked your GEDCOM Ready to import, one of our administrators will review your GEDCOM and finalize the import. This usually happens within 24 hours. You will receive a message here when the pages have been created.
[add comment] [edit] Date format [10 May 2011]Hallo Ben, since WeRelate is an international site, we suggest that dates should be in the format DD MMM YYYY (ie 5 Jan 1900). This helps to avoid ambiguity and makes the shared pages clear for all of our users. Met vriendelijke groeten --Jennifer (JBS66) 17:43, 10 May 2011 (EDT) Hello Jennifer, that is not according to the information in the Settings but of course it is no problem to stick to this procedure. Best regards Ben
As I said before, it is no problem but what about dates delivered with a Gedcom file, will they be changed automatically?
[add comment] [edit] MySource page [11 mei 2011]Ben, I noticed you created MySource:Bensinnema. This looks like a MySource page where the title was omitted, because they would normally have the format MySource:Bensinnema/Title. Do you mind if I delete this page? --Jennifer (JBS66) 06:11, 11 May 2011 (EDT) I don't mind. [add comment] [edit] Next step: Review your GEDCOM [11 May 2011]You're not done yet! [add comment] [edit] MySource/Source [13 May 2011]Ben, I am going through our shared pages and changing some of your MySources into Sources. On a page such as Person:Trijntje Jorna (3), you have another MySource for the birth registration. Since this is the same as the Source for her birth, would you mind if I remove the Blad nr. 42. MySource and refer to the Burgerlijke Stand Source instead? If don't mind this, I'll also make edits such as that on other pages we have in common. Looking at your recent gedcom, it seems we are going to share a lot of pages! If you have any questions about the edits I'm making to them, please don't hesitate to ask. --Jennifer (JBS66) 10:07, 13 May 2011 (EDT) Jennifer, as long as it will improve the quality of the data and it will be clear for other users it's fine with me. And as we are sharing so may pages, you must be a Sinnema.--Bensinnema 11:19, 13 May 2011 (EDT)

[add comment] [edit] Gedcom - death data [14 May 2011]Hi Ben, when you compare the death fields in your gedcom, if one side has only a Y in the death field, you can uncheck the box next to that death data (and do still check the box next to your data). --Jennifer (JBS66) 04:39, 14 May 2011 (EDT) [add comment] [edit] Jan Boekema [14 May 2011]With all of the changes going on with pages recently, I didn't want this note to get lost among the notices. Thanks, --Jennifer (JBS66) 07:45, 14 May 2011 (EDT) [add comment] [edit] Abbreviation [15 May 2011]Ben, what does the abbreviation PK stand for in your sources? --Jennifer (JBS66) 11:09, 15 May 2011 (EDT) PK stands for Persoonskaart or Persoonslijst. After the death of a person you can request such a document 2 years after this or her death from the CBS in Den Haag.--Bensinnema 11:39, 15 May 2011 (EDT) [add comment] [edit] Place matching in your gedcom [18 May 2011]Hi Ben, I noticed that Wirdum, F, NL was redirecting to Wirdum, Groningen in your gedcom, so I rematched it to Wirdum, Leeuwarderadeel. I just caught two more mismatches, but did not correct them:
To correct these in your gedcom, you can go to the Places Tab and right-click on the place name, choose Unlink Matched Place from the menu, and then rematch to the correct place. Let me know if you need any help with this. --Jennifer (JBS66) 13:59, 15 May 2011 (EDT) I'm not sure if the correction of Wirdum is correct as there is a place called Wirdum in Groningen. Het dorp telde in 2008 320 inwoners.[1] --Bensinnema 17:04, 15 May 2011 (EDT)
If the text is F it must be Wirdum in Friesland. I'am changing my date base at this moment and will use the same abbreviations as you are so future Gedcoms will be clear at that point.--Bensinnema 04:01, 16 May 2011 (EDT)
I will have a look at the places (Nijkerk and Nes) as soon as the information is availble.--Bensinnema 10:25, 16 May 2011 (EDT)

[add comment] [edit] Merge help page [21 May 2011]Hallo Ben, I just wanted to let you know that I created a merge instructions help page Hulp:Merge instructies. It's a first draft, and only in English right now, but it may be helpful nonetheless. --Jennifer (JBS66) 10:15, 21 May 2011 (EDT) [add comment] [edit] MySources and Sources [22 May 2011]Hi Ben, I see you are working to consolidate sources. By moving the Blad nr up to the source title field, it is creating a red-linked source. When an item is displayed in red, that usually indicates there is an error. This is a bit hard to explain, but let me try :-) 1. The MySources you had on the pages before was a direct link to a wiki page. For example, on one page you had a MySource titled Bensinnema/Geboorteakte Leeuwarderadeel, 1840 - that pointed to the MySource:Bensinnema/Geboorteakte Leeuwarderadeel, 1840 page. When you move the blad nr up to the title field, this now creates a link Bensinnema/Geboorteakte Leeuwarderadeel, 1840 Blad nr. 21. Since there is no MySource with that title, the link displays in red. 2. Then, I believe you changed the MySource to a Source (using the drop-down box). That is good, but the title in the Title box then needs to match an existing Source title page. The Burgerlijke Stand pages are in the format Place. Burgerlijke Stand (well.... not all of them, but they are being renamed slowly over time). So, for Leeuwarderadeel, the title for the B.S. source is Leeuwarderadeel, Friesland, Netherlands. Burgerlijke Stand. This is the text that you would put into the Title field to indicate that you have referenced that source. The record name, Volume/Pages, and Date fields don't need to be as exact as the title field. What I just did is fix the birth reference for Person:Anneke Sinnema (1) as an example. From there, you can better see the difference between her birth and death sources. I know that this can seem awkard at first, but please feel free to post here if you have any questions. --Jennifer (JBS66) 10:59, 22 May 2011 (EDT) Jennifer, I think I got it. I just changed the record of the death reference and it's not red anymore so it must work. I also merged today some records of people, can you see if that went ok?--Bensinnema 11:21, 22 May 2011 (EDT)

[add comment] [edit] Next step: Review your GEDCOM [13 July 2011]You're not done yet! WeRelate is different from most family tree websites. By contributing to WeRelate you are helping to create Pando for genealogy, a free, unified family tree that combines the best information from all contributors. Now that you have uploaded Lolkema.ged, your next step is to review what your pages will look like, review any potential warnings, and combine (merge) people in your GEDCOM with matching people already on WeRelate.

[add comment] [edit] Pilon in Whatcom County, Washington [28 February 2012]Ben, I was interested in the Kamstras because Hiltje married into a family in Whatcom County, Washington connected with mine. Did Kornelis and Sjouktje emigrate to Washington State? I see 5 Pilons born in Netherlands living in Washington in the 1930 census; perhaps we can try to identify them. Hilda Pilon (1854); Dorothy Pilon (1910); Wielze Pilon (1907); John P Pilon (1879); and Minnie Pilon (1875). --Pkeegstra 11:44, 27 February 2012 (EST) Is this John P Pilon b.1879 spouse of Minnie? And could this then be Hilda b. 1854. --Pkeegstra 11:56, 27 February 2012 (EST)
Dorothy and Minnie are both Pilons by marriage; Dorothy is the wife of John R, who was born 1909 in Washington State, son of John P and Minnie; Minnie is the wife of John P. GENLIAS doesn't know any Pilon born 1906-1909, so I can't track Wielze. --Pkeegstra 20:50, 27 February 2012 (EST) [add comment] [edit] Next step: Review your GEDCOM [29 February 2012]You're not done yet! [add comment] [edit] sources aanpassen?

You need to review your GEDCOM before it can finish importing. We will keep your GEDCOM in the queue for two weeks to give you time to review it. Note: if your gedcom contains many errors or multiple families, we’d ask that you resolve and correct the errors, delete this gedcom and re-submit it without the errors before merging it with families already on WeRelate. Now that you have uploaded Hiddinga.ged, your next step is to review what your pages will look like, review any potential warnings, and combine (merge) people in your GEDCOM with matching people already on WeRelate.

[add comment] [edit] Alberse family tree [28 September 2015]Hello, I am searching for details on members of my family, and in particular, members of the family of Alijda Adriana Lindenboom and Gerardus Johannes Alberse. I have two definite children of that family - Alida Gerarda Alberse (married Herman Sinnema), and Johannes Albertus Alberse, however I know that there were other siblings also. My grandfather was Johannes Albertus Alberse and he never ever spoke of his family, as if there was a big deep dark secret to hide, and now that he has passed on we would like to find out more about his side of the family. I noticed that you entered the details on Alida Gerarda Alberse and I wondered if you had more details on her, or even more details on her family at all?
