N. E. coll. he could count only three at Harv. two at Dart. none at Yale.

    CAMPERWELL, MORDECAI, emb. 1 Apr. 1679, at Barbados for N.
E. in the ketch Swallow; but whether he hever reach. our shores, I have
not heard.

    CAMPFIELD or CAMPFIELD, JOHN, Portsmouth, R. I. call. jr. among
freem. 1655. MATTHEW, New Haven 1644, m. Sarah, d. of Richard
Treat of Wethersfield, had Samuel, bapt. 19 Oct. 1645; Sarah, 23 (not,
24, as in Geneal. Reg. IX. 358) May 1647; Ebenezer, b. 1649; Matthew,
9 May 1650; Hannah, 21, bapt. 22 June 1651; and Rachel, b. 1652;
rem. to Norwalk, and had there Jonathan and Mary, and was rep. 1654
until the union of Conn. and N.H. Cols. in the Royal chart. where this
name is insert. and after that union 1665 and 6, then rem. to Newark,
N. J. and d. 1673. SAMUEL, Norwalk, freem. 1669, eldest s. of the
preced. m. prob. a d. of Francis Willowby of Charlestown,[2] but nothing
more is kn. * THOMAS, Milford 1646, perhaps br. of Matthew, an
early but not first sett. rep. 1673 and 4, perhaps rem. His will, of 23
Feb. 1687 names ch. Thomas, wh. d. bef. his f. leav. w. Rebecca
with ch. Thomas, and Rebecca; Jeremiah; Sarah Platt; Phebe Smith,
w. of John; Elizabeth Baldwin; Abigail Staples; Mary; Hannah; and Mehitable.
The will of his wid. Phebe was made 28 July 1690. For w. Phebe
and s. Jeremiah we must trust Cothren, wh. however can tell only, that
Jeremiah m. Judith Mallory, had Jeremiah, and other ch. not favor. with
names. In the spell. of this name authors vary, even in giv. the chart.
of Char. II. Trumbull's Hist. I. 249, may be less accura. than Trumbull,
Col. Rec. II. 3. The p was drop. and m turn. to n very early. Farmer
found, in 1829, six gr. of this name at Yale, none at Harv. or Dart.

24 July 1678; Mary, 18 Feb. 1681; Desire, 20 Oct. 1686; and Abigail, Apr.
1689.

    CANE or CANNE, CHRISTOPHER, Cambridge, by w. Margaret had
Deborah, b. 17 Jan. 1645. In Geneal. Reg. VIII. 345, is giv. the blunder
of this name from copy of Boston rec. Champney.

Mary, 25 July 1678. THOMAS, Portsmouth 1631, sent over by Mason,
the patentee,[1] was of Dover 1644, had Thomas, b. bef. 1645; Joseph;
Mary, wh. m. Jeremy Tibbets; and a d. wh. m. Henry Hobbs. In June
1661, his w. Jane (we may hope not the mo. of those ch.) was indict.
for beat. him, his s.-in-law Tibbets; and his w. and he d. 1677, or earlier.
THOMAS, Dover, s. of the preced. by w. Sarah had six ch. but tho. their
names are not seen, the ages, at his d. early in 1675, were, as Mr. Quint
assures us, 11, 9, 8, 6,4, and 1 yrs. respectiv. His wid. m. bef. May
1677, John Wingate, and had more.

    CANNON, JOHN, Plymouth, came in the Fortune 1621; but whether
he rem. or went home, is unkn. and his name at the div. of cattle, 1627,
is not found. One C. was of Sandwich 1650, wh. may have been that
