They also received an interesting letter giving the market prices of grain, and potatoes are quoted at .25 cents. per bushel. Benzie Banner; 1920 ---- Researched; Apr. 2002 Nov. 4,- "A Surprise Party" - A jolly crowd of neighbors and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Z.E. Clark, went to their country home on Saturday evening, to remind Mr. Clark of another birthday anniversary. Mr. Clarks birthday occurred on October 24th, but as he had, rather boasted about surprising him on his birthday, Mrs. Clark decided to wait a few days. About fifty responded to her invitation for Saturday night, where all spent a pleasant evening. Refreshments of sandwiches, and salads, cake, pop-corn, pie and coffee were served at a late hour. An ideal night for games in the yard were enjoyed by a large number of young folks, while the older ones inside were engaged in conversation and enjoying the music on the phonograph. Benzie Banner; 1930 ---- Researched; Apr. 2000 Sept. 11,- Obituary; Zenas Edison Clark.( Pg. 1 ) "Needs corrections" Mr. Zenas Edison Clark, age 82, Civil was veteran, was born October 24, 1948, and died Monday morning at 9:00 o'clock at home east of the village following an attack of acute indigestion. Mr. Clark had been a resident of Benzonia for many years and is well known in this community. He is survived by his widow, three sons, Truman Clark, who is at home with his mother, and two other sons one in Manistee and one in the Upper Peninsula, one daughter, also in the Upper Peninsula . Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the home with, Rev. H.S. Mills conducting the service, and service in the cemetery in charge of the I.O.O.F. lodge, Interment in Benzonia cemetery. Sept. 18, Card of Thanks - Clark family We wish to thank our many friends for the respect and sympathy expressed both in their kind words and many lovely floral offerings, in our bereavement. "Mrs. Z.E. Clark & family" Sept. 25,- "Full Obituary" Zeanas Edson Clark ( Pg. 1 ) Sept. 25 - " Obituary" ( Pg. 1 ) Mr. Zenas Edson Clark was born at Alden, McHenry county, Illinois October 24, 1848. He lived with his mother until in the company with with another young man, he went to Springfield where he enlisted May 1, 1864 in Co. C 142 Regiment Illinois Volunteers and served until hes discharge at the close of the war. In the spring of 1873 he came to Mainstee where on October 8, of the same year he was married to Miss Minnie Moldt. Following his marriage he returned to Illinois where three children were born to them. In the year of 1883 he returned with his Family to Manistee. Here he followed hi trade as mason and carpenter until 1902 when He came to Benzonia Township where he resided the remainder of his life. He passed away Sepetember 8, at the age of 82 years. Mr. Clark was a member of the E.P. Case Post No. 372 of the Grand Army of the Republic of which he was commander for some time. He was also a member of the Oddfellow Lodge No. 79 He leaves to mourn their loss, His wife Minnie Clark and four children, Golden Clark of Recine, Wis. , Mrs. Maude McClelland of Escanaba, Mich. Delos Clark of Manistee and Truman Clark who lives at home, besides a number of grand-children and great-grand-children.
