William Eugene Moses Sr. William Eugene Moses Sr., son of Albert and Mary Lestina Moses, was born May 28, 1898, at Norfolk, Neb. He received his education at the Cooper Valley School. William lived in Norfolk until 1904, at which time he moved to the Monona area. On July 4, 1923, William was united in marriage to Blanche Robinson in the United Methodist Church at McGregor, Iowa. They had five children. The couple farmed in the Monona area from 1924 to 1960. They retired and moved to Strawberry Point from 1960 to 1962. Nov. 1, 1988, William suffered a stroke. He became a resident of the Great River Care Center at McGregor March 1, 1989. William died Friday, May 28, 1993, at Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, Wis. He was 95. Preceding him in death were his wife Blanche, who died April 21, 1989; his parents; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include two sons, William Jr. of Monona and Willard of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three daughters, Shirley Stangeland of LaCrosse, Wis., Dolly Klingeman of Monona and Betty Moose of Garnavillo; 23 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Gilbert Robinson of Cedar Rapids and Bud Brieserfeld of Spokane, Wash.; niece and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 1, 1993, at the Garden City United Methodist Church, Monona. Rev. Gary Dobbins officiated. Pallbearers were William's grandchildren. Burial was in Council Hill Cemetery. Services: 11 am Tuesday, Garden City United Methodist Church, Monona. Burial: Council Hill Cemetery, rural Monona. Friends may call from 2 to 9 pm Monday at Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, where there will be a prayer service at 8 pm. Survivors include two sons, William Jr. of Monona and Willard of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and three daughters, Shirley Stangeland of LaCrosse, Wis., Dolly Klingeman of Monona and Betty Moose of Garnavillo.
