- John McELHANEY (b: abt 1771 VA d: aft 1825), m: Margaret Hannah BOWEN (b: 1748 VA (??, other sources have Margaret Hannah Bowen as being born abt. 1773, which fits.)))
John McELHANEY married Margaret Hannah BOWEN143 (b: 1748 (s/b abt. 1773), Augusta, VA) about 1790 in Augusta County, VA. Margaret was the daughter of Henry BOWEN and Ann CUNNINGHAM, covered elsewhere. John and Margaret lived in Grainger, TN at lease during 1798 - 1802, according to Grainger County Court Records. By 1819, John had moved to White County (or perhaps the Grainger County lines shifted), TN. It was there in 1819 that John and two of his sons were ejected from their rental property. In 1825 John was declared the equivalent of our current form of bankruptcy.

We have no death records for Arthur or Emiline.
