BIRTH: Jeremy Jordan also has a record of a birth date of the 16th. per hand written note by Robert Jordan [1464]. BIOGRAPHY: Emigrated to Tiflin, Seneca Co., OH 1833. Lived in OH until the Fall of 1865, then moved to Orion, IL. Was a farmer. There is a listing of a William Jordan as Trustee of Adams Twp., Seneca Co. in 1853-1855. According to "Portrait & Biographical Album of Rock Island Co", Biographical Publishing Co., Chicago, 1885, William made a journey in 1833 or 1834 through the West as far as Michigan City, IN & was employed in La Porte, IN for 1 year. Also mentions that he left Maine in the Fall of 1833 and came to Seneca Co., OH, and left Ohio in November 1864 and purchased 120 acres in Sec. 36 of Rural Twp., Rock Island, IL. This info is questioned, based on the preceeding sentance and a record that he purchased land E1/2NE, i.e. the East 1/2 of the NE quarter section, Sec. 34, Twp. 38N, R2W in March 1837 in Indiana. He is listed in the 1850 Fed. census for Adams Twp., Seneca Co., OH as Farmer, age 39. Listed as William Jordan in 1860 Fed. Census for Adams Twp., Seneca Co., [Post Office is Green Springs], OH, enumerated on 18 Jun 1860, age 48, b. ME, farmer, w/wife + 4 children. Listed as William Jordan in 1880 Fed. Census for Rural Twp., Rock Island Co., IL, enumerated on 10 Jun 1880, age 68, b. ME, farmer, w/wife Sarah + daughter Ella S. Jordan, both parents b. ME. William H. Jordan-267 is the 2nd great grand uncle of Jeremy Hills Jordan-1. Their common ancestors are Robert Jordan-25 and Hannah Bridges Keating-27. DEATH: His death is noted on that same day in the Diary of Ida Barrett, "Diary of Ida (Barrett) Freeburg - Her Life and Times in Port Byron, Sept 13, 1886 - Jan 10, 1891".
