William Frederick Gentz, son of William and Anna Baltz Gentz, was born January 3, 1918, in rural Luana, IA. He was baptized April 14, 1918, and confirmed on April 9, 1933. He graduated from high school in 1935.

Bill was a member of the Monona Historical Society, the Fraternal Order of Eagles at Prairie du Chien, and was a retiree of Dubuque Teamster Local #421.

On May 29, 1943, Bill was united in marriage to Jean Frances Lestina. To this union 11 children were born.

He was employed 26 years as a truck driver for Ruan in Dubuque before retiring in 1980. They moved to Monona in 1979 where they resided for the past 12 years. previously living in Dubuque for 28 years and in Giard.

Bill died Wednesday, January 22, 1992, at Harris Methodist Hospital in Bedford, TX.

Preceding him in death were his parents; three sisters, Agnes Schulte, Rita Doerring, and Lou Ann George; and a brother who died in infancy.

Survivors include his wife, Jean; six sons, Gary of Arlington, TX, Ronald of Davenport, IA, Dean of Belvidere, IL, Robert of Eldridge, IA, Steven of Laceys Spring, AL, and David of Grapevine, TX; five daughters, Joyce Coolahan of Cedar Rapids, IA, Mary Conzett of Dubuque, IA, Nancy Rommel of Bakersfield, CA, Carol Gentz of Wailea, HI, and Joan Tayek of Monona, IA; ten grandchildren, Tom, Tim, Keri, C.J., Elizabeth, Brian, Erin, Kevin, Amanda and Johnathon Gentz; three sisters, Mary Radloff of Chandler, AZ, Hester McGuire of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Margie Leach of Hiawatha, IA; and a host of other relatives and friends.
