William Curren Bourie

The sixth child of Terresa Driver and Dr. David Proctor Bourie was William Curren Bourie, my grandchildren's Great Great Grandfather. William was born in April 1849 in Indiana[[1]]. The 1850 US census show a 1 year old William L Bourie and gives the birth place as Ohio. The 1860 US census shows William as 11 years old and born in Indiana which is believed to be correct.

On 26 February 1872 Edward Richman, Justice of the Peace, married William Bourie and Alice Stevens, daughter of Angeline Shepherd and William Stevens in Albion, Noble County, Indiana. A photo of the couple with Alice's brother, Clark Stevens is found on the web[[2]]. The couple had three daughters and one son, Frank Bourie, Sr., My grand children's Great Grandfather. In the 1889 obituaries of his parents, William is said to be operating a grocery store in Ligonier, Noble County, Indiana. William is enumerated as Curren Bourie living with his wife Alice in Jonesboro, Grant county, Indiana in the June 1900 US Census. William is believed to be the second of four sons. The 1900 census also indicates that William is their only child still living as of June 1900. After William's death, Alice traveled to Florida to live with her son Frank Bourie. She died in Florida. A memorial page on the Find-A-Grave website hosts a photo of Alice and the cemetery marker [[3]].
