From the March 24, 1993, edition of the Postville (IA) Herald-Leader Vivian Rose Scheffert Vivian Rose Scheffert, daughter of William and Rose (Holly) Schroeder, was born Jan. 23, 1917, at Monona. She was baptized March 8, 1917 and confirmed on May 31, 1930. Vivian graduated in 1934 from the Luana High School. On Jan. 24, 1934, Vivian was united in marriage to Yvo Scheffert. She was a homemaker and enjoyed playing cards and fishing. Vivian died Sunday, March 14, 1993, at Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, Wis. Preceding her in death were here husband; her parents; a son, Robert; a sister, Harriet, and a brother, Harold. Surviving are three daughters, Yvonne and her husband Frank Palmer of Des Moines, Iowa, Pat Lumbus of Oelwein, Iowa, and Josephine and her husband Arno Schlitter of Luana; five sons, Delbert of Luana, Ron and his wife Margaret of Ely, Iowa, Burdette and Marol of Oelwein, David and his wife Sherri of Oelwein, and Stan of Prairie du Chien; a sister, Gladys Bruehahn of McGregor, Iowa; 19 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; three step grandchildren and six step great grandchildren. Funeral services for Vivian Rose Scheffert were held Wednesday, March 17, 1993, at St. John Lutheran Church, Luana. The Rev. Ted Ager officiated. Mrs. Carol Goettler was organist. Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the St. John Cemetery, Luana. Pallbearers were Lonnie Schlitter, Danny Schlitter, Daryl Schlitter, Rodney Schlitter, Eric Scheffert, Greg Scheffert, Kevin Palmer, Robert Lumbus, Darwyn Scheffert and Brian Scheffert. From the March 16, 1993, edition of the Cedar Rapids (IA) Gazette Vivian Rose Scheffer, 76, died Sunday in Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, Wis., after a long illness. Services: 11 am Wednesday, St. John's Lutheran Church. Burial: church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 9 pm today at Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, where thre will be a prayer service at 8 pm. Survivors include three daughters, Yvonne Palmer of Des Moines, Pat Lumbus of Oelwein and Josephine Schlitter of Luana; five sons, Delbert of Luana, Ron of Ely, Burdette and David, both of Oelwein and Stan of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; and a sister, Gladys Bruehahn of McGregor.
