Vida Belle Church, age 101, of Elwell, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Masonic Pathways in Alma.
Funeral services for Vida will be held Friday, May 7th at 1 p.m. at Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home with her grandson, Pastor Gary Church officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Vida was born July 19, 1908 in Edmore the daughter of Joseph and Rosetta (Meadows) Woodrow. She married Kenneth Lee Church, who preceded her in death in 1960. Vida worked as a nurse’s aide at the Mt. Pleasant State Home for several years. She was a member of the Beaver Creek Birthday Club and the Rebecca Lodge in Sumner. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and collecting dolls.
Vida is survived by two children, Zelma (Oliver) Moeggenborg of Shepherd and Duane Church of Alma, daughter-in-law, Sandra Church of Oakwood, Ohio, 39 grandchildren and several great, great-great, and great-great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kenneth, five children, Gloria Clark, Melvin, Mervin, Dane and Marvin Church, two sisters, Eathel Morris and Nerisa Lahr, two brothers, Floyd Woodrow and Robert Woodrow and an infant brother.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mid-Michigan Home Care/Hospice.
