Thomas Kempson was baptised on 15th January 1804 at Totternhoe in Bedfordshire, son of Rebecca Kempson, formerly Turnham, and her husband George Kempson. He was the eldest of their thirteen children.

On 12th June 1827, aged 23, Thomas married Elizabeth Snoxell. They a daughter called Rebecca later that year, although she died when she was one year old. In 1830 they had another daughter, whom they also called Rebecca. Her baptism describes Thomas as a labourer.

Thomas died later that year, aged about 27. He was buried at Totternhoe on 27th December 1830. Elizabeth survived him by about 45 years, and remarried in 1832.
