Thomas Dean was baptised on 31st March 1765 at Great Gaddesden in Hertfordshire. He was the son of Hannah Dean, formerly Welsh, and her husband Edward Dean. Thomas has yet to be traced after his baptism. One possibility is that he was the Thomas Dean who married firstly Phoebe Day and secondly Hannah Rogers, although that Thomas appears to have indicated in the 1841 census that he was not born in Hertfordshire.
