That Sarah's maiden surname was BLAIR was a conjecture of Campsa Robe Eagleson. She wrote on a 1938 letter to Emma Eliza Laughlin that she thought it might have been BLAIR and thought she could check, but I have no evidence whether she confirmed this. It is conjecture upon conjecture of mine that Sarah, if born a BLAIR, might have been a relative of the Rev. Samuel Blair who founded Fagg's Manor Classical Academy, a seminary for Presbyterian ministers at New Londonderry, PA in 1740. This is based on the family tradition as related by Sarah Robe in the Currey-Barker-Baldwin history that William Robe studied for the Presbyterian ministry. But I have no record of where or when he did this. Samuel Blair was b in Ireland in 1712, and was educated under William Tennant at the Log College at Neshamineh, PA, then preached at Middletown and Shrewsbury, NJ in 1733. His brother John Blair was ordained in Dec 1742 pastor of Middle Spring, Big Spring and Rocky Spring congregations in Cumberland Co., PA. He made two visits to Virginia, the last in 1746 (Presbyterian Encyclopedia, 1884).
